Scenar Pain Relief Therapy

scenar_treatment_female_back_234x150The Scenar device is a hand held instrument that sends electronic impulses via the skin to the brain when it is brushed over the painful area. These amplified 'pain signals' trigger the brain to respond by releasing its natural chemicals to give powerful pain relief and to speed up the healing process. The Scenar stimulates the body to use its own internal pharmacy to help cure a state of 'disease'. This bio-feedback dialogue between the 'brain and the pain' is brought about following years of sophisticated research into Scenar technology.

How does Scenar Therapy Work?

At the start of the treatment the Scenar appears to drag over the point of pain, feeling 'sticky'. It sends pulses through the skin at the area of damage and stimulates the nerve endings to pass the information to the brain - the processing centre where every action of the body is governed. The brain responds by releasing its own powerful natural painkillers and healing chemicals such as endorphine and dopamine. These continue to work on healing the area long after the treatment has finished.

Accelerated healing is encouraged as local micro-circulation is boosted bringing oxygen and nutrients to the area, with the removal of carbon dioxide and waste products. As healing begins, the site may redden or change colour in relation to the surrounding skin and the Scenar may make a different sound as it passes over the painful area. Once changes have occurred such as the 'stickiness' reducing, the colour of the skin changing or the buzzing getting fainter, the treatment is complete. Although treatment is utilised via the Scenar, pain relief is brought about by harnessing the natural healing ability of the body.

Is Scenar Therapy Painful?

The sensation is similar to a prickly feeling but should not be painful. In cases of very severe pain, the prickly feeling can be either stronger or weaker, Continuous monitoring takes place to ensure that enough 'dosage' is delivered whilst still being comfortable to receive. The device is applied directly to the skin as this gives the best results.

How Quickly Can I expect Results?

If the injury or condition is new, the results will be faster and pain may disappear within seconds with no further treatment needed. Chronic or more serious injuries may require several sessions. A normal course of treatment will vary between individuals but is typically between 3-6 sessions, over 2-3 weeks.

If the problem is long-standing, the expected result would be a gradual reduction in pain over a period of time. As with all types of healing, the older a person is, the longer it generally takes to achieve sustained pain relief and in chronic conditions, the occasional flare-ups may happen.
